Do you enjoy singing? We are a friendly choir who are currently
recruiting new Choristers and adult singers (alto, tenor and
bass) with good sight reading skills. If you know of someone who
might be interested, please contact us for details.
Boys and girls can join the choir from the age of 7 as
Probationers. They then progress through the ranks to senior
singers by taking part in award schemes run by the Royal School
of Church Music. When a boy’s voice breaks, they are encouraged
to stay as members of the choir, and join the adult section.
Being in a choir is an excellent way to learn to read music and
develop your voice. It is a recognised fact that children in
church choirs often have higher reading ages than other children
of their age, due to the high level of concentration and reading
skills needed to sing church music.
In
return for commitment to the choir we offer:
·
Vocal tuition and
intensive musical training
·
All music and robes
are provided
·
Participation in
events organised by the Royal School of Church Music
·
Opportunities to
attend residential and non-residential choral courses
·
An annual choir
social event
·
Choristers receive
a small termly allowance (depending on seniority) in return for
regular attendance and punctuality
In
addition to Sunday services, choir members regularly take part
in weddings, memorial services and concerts. Choristers have
also enjoyed participating in broadcasts of BBC Songs of Praise,
and “Come and Sing” workshops under the batons of Sir David
Willcocks, John Rutter, Paul Spicer, Stephen Cleobury, Bob
Chilcott and Adrian Partington.
Why
not come and join us? We rehearse on Friday evenings in the
Church from 6.15pm to 7.45pm. If you are interested and would
like to know more, please contact:

Director)
